Sorry to take so long to post. At the time the printer quit
working, I was on a deadline to get the output. I had left
the printer on for a long time. It was connected to the
Windows 2000 Pro machine with a parallel cable. I had
printed in the past but would not print when I needed it.
I turned the printer off for several hours and it started
printing again. I guess it just got too hot and/or locked up
internally. I printed out the two pages I needed real bad
and let it just sit for a while. I found the printing utility on
Apples' web site after the deadline, downloaded it and
used it to setup the printer "properly". I gave it IP address
192.168.1.200. But since I had already gotten the output
I needed, I never finished the net configuration to do the
printing through my lan. I just print through the parallel
port since it still works.
One thing I learned, if I ever need a lan printer in the future,
I will make sure it has a control panel and an lcd display
so I can control it without needing a computer. 4 lights and
no buttons, just won't cut it.
thanks to all,
charles......
