Old Notebook "desk accessory"?

I'm sure many remember the old Apple Notebook - a little mini-app, once
called a "desk accessory". After it was abandonned by Apple, it was
taken up by Steve Harris. I used a beta version of his Notebook for
years, but it finally broke with Leopard. Does anyone know of a
substiitute? I do not want anything complicated - just a little
notepad to jot stuff in - a notepad that does not require any "Save"
process.

I'm using an app that as far as I know never made it out of beta CocoaPad. It
works under Panther.
