Can OS 9 clients print reliably to Windows 2000 print servers via IP? Are
there any tricks to configuring things properly?

Thanks.

You should be fine.

Can *other* operating systems print to your Win2k server via IP? If so,
then the Macintosh can.

The only "trick" is to <gasp!> follow the instructions for printing via
IP.

The only way for OS9 clients to print via IP (via lpr, actually) is
through desktop printers. You have to have desktop printing set up, and
you have to use the Desktop Printer Utility to define the printer. Set
the PPD, then configure the IP address and queue name that you're
printing to, then save the printer. It will then appear in your Print
dialog box in a drop-down list.

It will also appear in the desktop printer menu up in the top right
corner of your screen (a great thing to have), and in your control
strip's printer list.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Yes and No.
Yes, OS9 clients can print to Win2k print servers via IP and No, there
are no tricks.
Setup TCP/IP print server on the Win2k box, and setup LPR printing on OS9.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Yes. Look here to see an example of how to set it up:

To get the printer info I needed to set up the desktop printer, I just
went to the print dialog on an XP machine, and the printer IP and path
were listed right in the dialog box.
