I own a Power Mac 7100/80 that has been upgraded with a Sonnet G3 266 MHz
Upgrade Card. I am presently running OS 9.1. Could I easily upgrade it to
OS 9.2? Thanks in advance for your help.

No.

There is a hack to allow it, though... check versiontracker.

Look for a piece of soft ware called MacTracker. It has all the current
answers you'll need.

No. Some old Macs can be upgraded using os9helper from <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://os9forever.com," target="_blank">http://os9forever.com,</a>
but yours is not one of the them. The compatibility matrix is here:

No.

The better question is, why would you want to? OS 9.2's improvements have more
to do with compatibility with OS X than anything else; it's difficult to see
what benefit you'd gain from 9.2 on a 7100.

Some software requires 9.2 if you're not running X.

Any software that requires 9.2 (eg, the Adobe CS apps) is not going to be
software you'll want to run on a 7100...

Unfortunately, the list includes Quicken 2003 and 2004, which both won't
install unless you're running 9.2.2.

Now that's just....what was that word again? Oh yeah--retarded!

Hard to imagine why either application should require 9.2.

Hello

I know one good reason why one would want to upgrade to OS 9.2.x. Quite
a bit if software was written for 9.2x, not for 9.1, so when the
software gets upgraded, then 9.1 users are left behind.

This was my situation with my 7300
