Bullshit. You're making the flawed assumption that Mac users forward
files with viruses to Windows users, and that Windows users aren't
running virus protection, both of which are incorrect assumptions.
Bottom line: It's not the responsibility of Mac users to protect Windows
users from Windows viruses. It it the Windows users, after all, who made
the decision to use an virus-prone operating system.

I have 10.1.2 running on OS 10.5.2 on an Intel iMac and NAV repeatedly
tries to update and fails. Any idea why? It works fine on my old G4
eMac running 10.4.11.

Who in God's name forwards emails with an .exe attachment to someone
else? That kind of dumb, no software can fix.

Dangerous, but ok.

they are not a virus for my system in this case at all. They are

If I do forward the email, and it contains a virus, that is the fault
of the originator, and/or the receiver if they don't have suitable
protection for their swiss cheese sieve of an operating system.

Why should I pay money to protect morons from their own decisions? If
an exploding Ford Pinto were to drive by my house is it my
responsibility to flag them down and remove the defect in their car?

From my perspective, there is no valid reason for me to have any Anti-Virus
software on my Mac--especially anything as full of bugs as Norton.
The best thing I can do to protect Windows users against viruses is to
encourage them to switch to a Mac as that is the only certain way they can
avoid having to deal with viruses.
I find it hard to understand why I should have a buggy program that I don't
need on my Mac when for less than $50 Windows users can get Trend Micro
Internet Security, for example, which is an excellent AV+ application (I
have it on my Dell which I only use on rare ocasions).
People who proclaim that PCs are cheaper than Macs sometimes fail to take
into account the cost of protecting against and dealing with viruses on a
PC. >> Stay informed about: Opinions on Norton AntiVirus 10? |

So we're now talking about a Mac users forwarding a Windows virus on to others?
Have you ever actually seen one of the infected emails? I assure you,
it isn't going to be forwarded. I have no intention of (just for
instance) sending a friend a "video of how Snow White thanked the seven
dwarfs!" or whatever.
And if you are going to, you have far bigger problems than the virus. >> Stay informed about: Opinions on Norton AntiVirus 10? |

There are no viruses for it to detect. It can't even do that right.
Where's the "opinion"? What kind of "helpful" comment do you need,
other than NAV doesn't work and will cause problems? >> Stay informed about: Opinions on Norton AntiVirus 10? |

Hi everyone, my name is Hany and I am the developer of WaterRoof. I
want to point out one important thing: WaterRoof has nothing to do
with Brickhouse. WaterRoof is a new independent project.
Brickhouse changed its name in Flying Buttress and it is still
available and mantained.
Last but not least: WaterRoof is NOT a firewall. It is only a frontend
for the built-in ipfw firewall with little functionality added (like
graphic logs or connections management).
Good luck

Thanks for the correction. With all these names flying around, it's hard
for my apparently aging grey matter to keep track. : )
