I think mine has gone. Apple says their part number is 661-3233. Two
questions. 1. Where is it in the laptop, or how do you change it? 2.
What is the type and number from typical battery manufacturers, if there
is one?

Thanks. I did that. It looks like the battery itself isn't
replaceable; I need the entire module. However, it doesn't seem to be
too difficult to replace. In fact, I have a flakey DVD drive that I
could replace at the same time.

Thanks. I will look into that. I checked the installation process,
which isn't real obvious, and discovered it gives me an opportunity to
replace my failed superdrive as well.

Apple's price for these batteries is high, and quite a lot of places
seem to have prices only slightly lower than Apple's.

I found a sensibly priced module (yes, it isn't just the battery) at
Other World Computing - made by Newer Tech, I think.
