no problem, but it seemts that the mai problem is to set up one and get a
game with 4 humans minimum
Maybe setup by IP for the beginning, but that needs ICQ for all.

Not so tough to set one up. I'm approach the second real-year of one
game.
Now, that one has gone too slowly, with no turn commitments at all.
I believe every 12 hours is probably too much of a committment. Given
my past experience, I'd say a 24 hour committment is sufficient, and
more realistic. I'm down for a game (preferably SMAC rather than SMAX)
with a 24 hour committment.
I've played PBEM multi-platform, so an IP game never worked. If we're
all on a Mac, I believe it's possible to do both a PBEM and IP at the
same time -- perhaps meet once a week for a burst of moves via IP, and
continue the rest of the week as PBEM.

So far I remember, an IP doesn't work with Mac an Win mixed, while a PBEM
does work.

Exactly correct. Hence, "if we're all on a Mac". Hadn't realized
until just now this was cross-posted to a.g.f.a-c.

I think I can live with a 24 hour minimum. Just assure me you'll play
your turns faster if you've the opportunity, please.
TCP/IP game starts or intervals of the same throughout a PBEM game would
be nice, but I'd like to include any willing PC players as well. It
would be fantastic if we could get seven people to play seven different
factions.

I'm already glad if we get 4 who are active (and setup by IP with 6 max
works proper. WIth 7 by IP may crash or freeze)
