What is the best downloadable software that will work with Leopard
that will enable me to take a pdf file, open it and edit it like a
Word document, like simply changing a title and saving it but keeping
the formatting, font, et-cetera. I see several products on the market.
What is the best?

I haven't used it a whole lot, but PDFPen 3.0 has coped with any of the
simple PDF text editing I've had to do (it does other useful stuff as
well).

Free trial available at <http://www.smileonmymac.com/PDFpen/download.html>

it depends if you are text- or graphics-oriented.

If you want to keep (and retouch) all the vectorial stuff (in addition
to the text) then Intaglio is second to none, with an exceedingly simple
GUI.
