I'm trying to set up a HP 750 PSC prinnter to be shared over my home
ethernet. The printer is connected via the USB port to an IMac. I
Print & Fax (System Preferences), I selected "Share my printers ...".
In Sharing (System Preferences), I selected "Windows Sharing" and
"Printer Sharing". When I try to add a network printer on my PC Laptop
(Windows 2000), it sees my IMac but doesn't show any printers.

I downloaded gimp-print for the Mac, but haven't been able to find a
driver that works for this printer.

Can I get this to work?

I believe it you can somehow connect your printer to the iMac via an
Ethernet hub/print server like AsanteTalk then you may be in business. I
think the problem with the PC is it can't necessarily talk to a mac unless
it's Mac OS X or the mac has PC/MACLan or some other PC to mac connection
software.

Kind Regards,
Nathaniel

Thanks for your reply. I don't print from my laptop at home very often,
so I don't want to get extra software just for that, Currently, I print
to a .ps file, transfer it to my mac, and print from Preview.

Apple states that USB printers can be shared with Windows 2000 (among
others). It's hhelp details hhow to set up the mac for printer sharing,
and says to add a network printer to Windows 2000. But then it says to
consult the Windows 2000 directions to set it up (has Apple started
relying on MS to write usage directions? :) ). The directions in
Windows state that all network devices should be visible -- but the
printer is not.
