Page Break Preview is not available in Excel 2008 for Mac, but you can adjust page breaks in Normal view. Here's a help topic on how to do it. <br><br><a href="http://www.microsoft.com/mac/help.mspx?MODE=ct&CTT=PageView&clr=99-1-0&target=5f6264e5-25b1-4b85-9915-58b9d815ded91033&srcid=086c05b7-ca01-429a-85d4-bfd8dbdfb2851033&ep=8&rtype=2&pos=2&quid=9cb1b136-2289-47c0-a7d1-089712389d04">http://www.microsoft.com/mac/help.mspx?MODE=ct&CTT=PageView&clr=99-1-0&target=5f6264e5-25b1-4b85-9915-58b9d815ded91033&srcid=086c05b7-ca01-429a-85d4-bfd8dbdfb2851033&ep=8&rtype=2&pos=2&quid=9cb1b136-2289-47c0-a7d1-089712389d04</a> <br><br>-Phil

As I understand it, it was deliberate. For all Office apps, the OS
performs the printing functions - the apps call the OS print routines
and send them whatever needs to be printed.

Since Tiger and Leopard have full Preview functions, there's little or
no compelling reason to design and implement an internal Print Preview
that has to mimic system functions, and therefore runs the risk of
differing from the actual printed output if something changes in the
System.

While I liked Print Preview, it makes a certain sense to me.

Hrm. This technique really isn't comparable to "Page Break Preview", which
dynamically changed the print scaling while I manually dragged the page
breaks to where I wanted them. Using "insert page break" can't achieve that
sort of precision.
Maybe there's a way to reproduce this using Visual Bas --- oops! Guess not!

I would like to add my own disappointment over the removal of the
"Page Break Preview" function.
I used it all the time, and found it much easier than doing everything
manually. The Page Break
feature also helped to ensure that I could maximize my type size by
perfectly scaling the documenentt
based on where I placed the breaks. Will this manual insertion
automatically scale the text (usually
down in size) as I was able to achieve in previous versions with "Page
Break Preview"?

Print Preview and Page Break Preview are rather different.

Page Break Preview is mostly a reduced magnification view with guides
that allow one to drag page boundaries (and with non-printing
"watermarks" to identify pages.

Print Preview, OTOH, is a full-screen view that shows XL's
representation of how a page or pages will be printed, complete with
headers and footers, and guides that allow one to set column widths and
the page, header, and footer margins.

Make sure you also "let this out" to MS - use Help/Send Feedback in XL.

I can't believe PAGE BREAK PREVIEW is missing.
This is so outrageous.
There is no way to duplicate this task.

Wow!
I figured it out.
I know how to get back Page Break Preview...

Re-install Excel from Office 2004.
Worked fine for me.

In fact, I kept on Excel for 2008 also.
I don't think the 2008 version is that much better than 2004.

Problem solved.
Nice going Microsoft!

Unreal...As with others, I am too extremely disappointed that the Page Break Preview function is no longer...I often have to print things for my boss at the last minute because she's meeting with clients, and this completely destroyed any possibility of being able to get her what she needs in time in these situations. It's very annoying to have to flip back & forth between the first page & others because I'm no longer able to print everything on one page in one, easy click & drag.

Make sure you use Help/Send Feedback to explain what exactly you could
do in Page Break Preview that you can't to in Page Layout View.

It would be nice if "page layout" worked at all in excel 2008. The whole mechanism is broken, not just the display.

10.5.2; Excel 12.0.1; Intel Core 2 Duo; 3GB; new Epson drivers;
Trashed all ~/library/preferences/com.microsoft.*

Excel won't let me print more than a Single Column per page -- either in portrait or landscape
