Once every six months I really need this program, so I'm glad it came
with a scanner or some such in the past.

I just attempted to run it now under Leopard and it whirred and then carped:

"An unexpected and unrecoverable problem because of a program error.
Photoshop will now exit."

Any idea what I can do to make this thing run again?

I have PE 2.0 on an iMac G5, running Leopard (I know I should clean it
out). I loaded it when I bought the machine, and, to tell the truth, I
never have been able to get it to run, either under Tiger or Leopard.
If I remember tonight when I turn the machine on, I will trash it.

Close. Version *6* is due out *this quarter.* No 5 for the Mac.

I think you left something out of that sentence, because PE 3 certainly
runs on my 10.4.11 machine.

Photoshop Elements 2.0 can run on PowerPC Macs running Tiger and earlier
OS X versions. It's not compatible with Leopard or Intel Macs. Version
4.0 is compatible with Leopard and Intel Macs.

> And the new ver. 5 is coming within few weeks...

Yes, a new version has been announced for a March 24 release, but it's
version 6, not 5.

Well, I never tried to first install it on a Mac running 10.4.11, but I
_have_ installed it on Macs running earlier 10.4.x versions, and it's
continued running on those Macs after updating to 10.4.11.

Okay. So what you left out was "that version of," yes?

There will not be a version 5, were jumping right to version 6, and I
believe the release date is March.

You can't. But you /can/ order Elements 6, which will be released soon.
I run it on Windows vice paying for another CS3 license, and it is very
good.

They may well have had OS 9 but Photoshop Elements 2.0, unlike 1.0, is a
carbon app and runs natively in OS X.

That's for the input from all. The idea of actually buying in to Adobe
products is likely something I can't manage to do. Not for once-a-year
access.

Yes. I just got out my old 2.0 installater disc to confirm this.

However, Photoshop Elements 2.0 is not one of those. As I have
previously stated, it can run on PowerPC Macs running Tiger and earlier
OS X versions. It's not compatible with Leopard or Intel Macs.

I have clients currently running it with Tiger on PowerPC Macs. I've
installed it for one of these clients on a Mac on which I had just
installed 10.4.6 and updated it to whatever was the latest version at
the time. The installer run natively in OS X, and I've just launched
the installer natively under Leopard.

I have no idea what your problem is but it's not reproducible here.

I have to amend the above statement, because it turns out I was wrong.
Photoshop Elements _does_ run on Intel Macs under Tiger.

This morning I worked on a client's MacBook Pro, running Mac OS 10.4.11,
noticed the PE 2.0 icon on the dock, and found that the program opens
and runs fine. Here's the screenshot I made:
