When I play a movie across slides, I can add text on top of it on the first slide, but on the subsequent slides I cannot see the text. (it is under the movie)

Am I missing a setting somewhere? Help please!

I suspect this is what you're seeing:

On the first slide, until the movie actually starts playing, you're looking at a picture of the
first frame of the movie. PPT lets you put text atop pictures. All's well.

But movies always sit atop everything else, so once the movie starts, it'll cover anything
beneath it.

You probably can't do what you want to do, if what you want to do relies on text sitting atop a
running movie.

You are correct, but on the first slide, you can actually have video play behind text.

I would like for the movie to continue to play behind text in subsequent slides, but as you say, this apparently isn't possible.

What a bizarre oversight - seems like this should be a pretty simple function.

Oh well - thank you for the response!

Hi

The on-top behavior of movies has been around for a long time, as has been
occasional requests to have it changed.

I've sent feedback about this, and you should, too. Here's the URL:

Another suggestion I've submitted is a request for a tool to visualize the
layers of a slide.

Maybe if enough people submit their feature requests some of them will find
their way into future versions.
