Here's my situation - I have a powerbook g3 pismo, with no monitor.
It was cracked, and I removed it. I can get an external monitor to
work fine when loading os9. The problem is that I am trying to load
Mandrake on my system. It boots from the cd fine, I think. When I go
to boot from my cd, the external monitor powers on, but then goes back
to sleep. This is also what was happening before I could get my
external monitor to work at all.

So far I have removed anything that I know of that has to do with the
built in lcd. I took out the entire inverter board as well. I know
some other people have had luck booting with the cover closed, but I
do not have mine. From what I have read I believie that the sensor
fot the lid is a magnetic sensor on the hard drive or in a similiar
location. One thing I want to try is to find a way to trick the
sensor into thinking the lid is closed without having the actual
hardware.

If anyone has any ideas or a workaround I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
