I, too, have experienced many crashes of PP presentations, most of
which were received in emails. A tech person at Microsoft provided me
with the following solution, which now allows me to view all
PowerPoint presentations, albeit without sound. It appears that there
is a conflict with advanced versions of Tiger and PP files created on
a PC.
Perform the following:
1. Move the PP file to your desktop (from an email, for example).
2. Change the file suffix from .PPS to .PPT (you will be asked to
confirm this change).
3. Open the converted file.
4. In the PowerPoint menu bar, choose "Slide Show." then "Slide
Transition."
5. Select "No Transition," "No Sound," and apply.
6. Return to "Slide Show" and select "View Show."
7. Enjoy a full screen (silent) presentation.
