This happened to me a long time ago - the solution at the time was
to change the Printer resolution from Normal to High, IIRC.

I can't reproduce it now, and frankly, I don't recall whether it was
fixed in the updates at:

Mactopia downloads:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/default.asp" target="_blank">http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/default.asp</a>

or it was an issue with how XL and OSX printing interfaced. Make
sure your printer driver is updated.

If you need to apply the updates, make sure you fix your disk
permissions afterward:

OS 10.2.x: Run the Disk Utility (in the ./Applications/Utilities
folder). From the First Aid tab, click "Repair Disk Permissions".

OS 10.1.5: Run Repair Privileges (same folder, or download from
Apple: <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900" target="_blank">http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900</a><!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
