I'm sick and tired of the jerkoff inkjet printer my wife uses. The maker
has the chips in the inkjet cartridges so they stop printing when the ink
is "low," and you can't get offbrand, cheaper cartidges that will print
till they're really, really empty.
I understand the Europeans have outlawed this kind of crap; does anyone
know if this is true and whether we can get those printers here? Even
paying for shipping, it will be cheaper than buying brand name cartridges
to get to buy the Rhino and other brands.

I say we start getting them in Canada instead! Well.... that is until
Congress amends their new law to read, "no prescriptions or printers".

Well, they are selling Miele vacuum cleaners here now. We can hope. ;)

No such probs with my Canon i850.
But if you really want efficiency, a used laserwriterIIg is the bomb... black
and white only, of course, but I go about three years between toner cartidge
changes even with daily use.... Things been running like a champ since...
well, over ten years, for sure.... >> Stay informed about: Printer question |

The start page is an option that may be turned off using Apple's "Apple
Printer Utility." The software is easily available for download.
Unfortunately, I don't remember where the option is, but it's a pretty
simple program, and you should be able to find it pretty easily. Since I
run OS X, and don't have access to an OS 9 machine at the moment, I
can't go and look around for it. HTH<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Printer question |

The newer Canon inkjet printers are the bomb. My i860 has an ink
cartridge for each color meaning you don't have to buy a new cartridge
when you run out of one color. The cartridges are about $12 each.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Printer question |

Thanks. Tell me they aren't chipped so that only Canon cartridges work in
the printer.

Hey, at $12-13 each I've never bothered buying anything but Canon
cartridges. But I have seen others advertised for $5-$10<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Printer question |
