Printing from Leopard to Lanier?

same problem, with Epson DX7450 on a windows machine and Epson R1800 on
a printer server - i can get some output using the basic drivers - but
using the official ones produces nothing - but does work locally connected.

have hunted around and found alot of suggestions but non of them seem to
work for me (as yet) so i'm assuming this is a leopard bug at the moment.

will keep watching this thread :-)

I did discover the area to input the printer security code -- it's in
the "Cover Page" area (huh?) and listed as "Billing Info."

Unfortunately, I'm still not able to print. The Lanier tech is
supposed to be coming to look at this...

I've spent a lot more time on this, but am coming to the conclusion its
really the driver giving the issue. I reckon the drive is expecting some
response from the printer, which since it is over the network (that i
believe is providing a one way interface) it never gets. So i think we
need to rely on Epson fixing this ... but i havent given up yet .

Do you still have the driver or PPD file you used in OS X 10.4? That
should also work in OS X 10.5.

I just downloaded the latest driver. The ReadMe states:

[5] Restrictions and Notification about the use of this PPD File
*Following features are not available with MacOS X PostScript driver.
User ID
User Code
Sample Print
Locked Print
Document Server

You also could try the PPD from OpenPrinting.org

c_PS.ppd> It has provisions for user codes. You would have to edit the
PPD file to enter you user code. See the Ricoh FAQ for some basic
information about setting user codes.

This is a completely separate problem than those with the Lanier
printers are having. The problem you are encountering is that the
drivers EPSON supplies only work when the printer is directly connected
to your computer via USB. For network printing you will need to use the
Gutenprint drivers. <http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3>

Thanks Matt, I'll try the later version (i have 5.13) but these guten
print drivers seem to be quite basic in comparison (but they do work i
guess) :-)
