Hi,

Everytime I open a pdf. file, it automatically saves it to my desktop.
I can't figure out how to stop it automatically saving files I don't
want saved.

I'm using an iMac with OX 10.2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kathy

Hi Paul,

Without sounding like the computer dunce I am, where might the download
directory be located? I found the Adobe Reader Download Manager but
can't get into the Preferences to see what they are.

Sorry to be a problem to you.

Thanks,

Kathy

One simple workaround might be to set your download directory to /tmp
instead of ~/Desktop.

Safari -> Preferences -> General -> Save downloaded files to:

I suggest changing it from Desktop (or whatever you have it set to
currently) to /tmp. That way any downloads that you don't explicitly
squirrel away somewhere will eventually get deleted, and you won't be
bothered with them littering your desktop.

BTW, this is comp.sys.mac.programer.misc - for general questions about
Mac issues that are not related to programming you might be better off
with a more general-purpose news group, e.g. comp.sys.mac.misc.

Good luck,

Paul
