The first thing I'd check - assuming that the printer & ink cartridges are
acting properly otherwise - is the Line Spacing for the problem paragraphs.
If you have it set to Exactly: [whatever] or something other than At Least
or one of the "standards" (single, 1.5, etc.) & it isn't quite sufficient
based on the font or font size the problem may not show up on screen but
some printers will handle it less gracefully than others. What you don't
mention is whether the anomaly is present in Print Preview - that's your
best indicator of what will be rendered on paper because it's generated by
your printer driver.

That would also explain why it doesn't show up in other programs but does in
other Word documents - the other apps aren't observing Word's Line Spacing
settings.
