Problem opening entourage 2004

Get your updates for Office 2004 - start with 11.3.5 and work your way up
till 11.3.8
This probably will take care of your problem with the framework library
error.

"how to rebuild your database" tip #9 will tell you where you can find them.
Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to rebuild you need twice
the size of your database file.

9. Constant reminder that "Your Office database is damaged. You need to
rebuild"
The "Verify database" has been known to give false reports. One option that
can cause these false reports is a corrupted preference. Try deleting this
preference file in your User's --> Library Preferences:

com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist
To see if the background verify option is giving a false report, try running
the Database Utility and having it do a verify operation. If it gives you a
clean bill of health, you know you are safe in turning off the background
checking.

Some users have had to uncheck this preference to stop the constant
warnings. If you are not experiencing any problems turn off the "Verify
database". I do recommend that you run regular backups of your database. Use
Tasks to set up a reminder.

Other options to check:

1.. Bad RAM.
2.. Being low on disk space. To check your disk space, use the Activity
Monitor. Click on Disk Usage in the bottom menu bar and select the volume
where you have Office installed. You can also use Disk Utility to see
detailed information about a disk or volume. To learn more, open Disk
Utility in the /Applications/Utilities folder and refer to Disk Utility
Help.

 I keep getting the error....."This identity cannot be opened using this version of Entourage" <br>
Installed update 11.3.5 and then I had trouble openeing files so I removed office 2004 and upon re-installation I was asked if I wanted to delete old versions of Office, I said yes and then finished the installation. Now I am unable to pen Entourage as I get teh identity error emntioned above every time then the program shuts down. <br><br>Any help trying to fix this si much appreciated. <br>

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the
saved database was saved in Entourage 11.3.3. Since there was a database
format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database saved in
Entourage 11.3.3.

Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.

Hi Marg!

You're following the right steps but just not finishing. Your Entourage
database was last used with a version of Entourage newer than 11.3.5.
The latest version of Entourage is 11.3.6.

Use the Help --> Check for Updates features in Entourage to download the
latest updates for Entourage and the rest of your Office applications.

I've never gotten that message when I used Office 2004. The only thing I can think of is to delete the identity that is in your Microsoft User Data located in your Documents folder and see if that does anything.

Please don't give advice like that without warning the user that this will
delete all of his mail.
