Hi.

Just bought Railroad Tycoon 3, and I like it for the most part, but
some of the mistakes in the game are a bit annoying.

(For example, I was playing one scenario in which I was informed that
Tool and Dye factories would no longer be accepting iron, but only
steel. And there wasn't a single steel mill on the map, I couldn't
build a steel mill, and none of the ports were importing steel. There
wasn't a drop of steel in the whole game It's like trying to buy
something at Sears and being told "We only accept credit crystals."
And if you tell them that there's no such thing as credit crystals,
and they won't sell much merchandise with that policy, they just smile
and say they're sorry.)

The REAL annoyance is electric trains. In the scenario I'm playing,
I've got my entire rail system electrified. When I click on the
"electrify track" icon it tells me there's no more track to electrify.
But when I try to set up electric train routes, I sometimes get a
message that says there's not a continuous electric path from point A
to B. I've tried plowing up track, bulldozing stations, but I can't
seem to get the problem fixed. The game should come with a voltmeter
or something.

So my big question is, does anybody know how to deal with this? I LIKE
the electric trains. I like the smooth, efficient sound they make
rolling down the track.

Blast it ... I *know* I've encountered this problem before on
Railroad Tycoon III, and I remember finding some solution to it, but I
just don't offhand remember what it was. I have a vague memory that
there was some trick about hooking track up to stations, but I'm not
at all positive.

Come to think of it, at least once I had that problem creep up
with plain old old-fashioned style track, in which it just did not
grasp that there was a perfectly good connection here. I forget if I
did find a clever solution or if I just bulldozed the offending point
where the game seemed to fixate and rebuilt the whole region.

If I can find the time I'll try to spend a bit tracking down
what I did.
