I have recently downloaded and installed upgrade 12.01.1. Since installing I am unable to send email via ethernet cable. I cannot send via Entourage or even through my webmail connections. I have no problem receiving mail or connecting to the internet.
It is strange that even webmail does not send. Any ideas?

Check to see if your Network setting have changed. You can test in a new
User to see if Entourage works there. This would eliminate any problems in
your User's folder.

What are you changing in your Network setting to get Entourage to send?

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Thanks for the information. I have tried as a new user but still can't send. I checked and created a new account in Entourage with the correct smtp settings but still no luck.
Keychain appears to be ok.

Could there be a hardware problem?

Maybe the Entourage .PLIST file is corrupt? Try moving it to your desktop
and then start Entourage again and let it build a new one.

Going back to your original message. You said "It is strange that even
webmail does not send. Any ideas?"

Let's check your System Preferences --> Network to be sure they are set
correctly.

What happens when you use your browser to view the web?

You also said "recently downloaded and installed upgrade 12.01.1. Since
installing I am unable to send email via ethernet cable.". Was Entourage
working in 12.0.0?

If System Preferences for Network are correct, try entering the same info
into Apple Mail. If it works there then you know the setting are correct. If
they do not work, then it's your settings. Are these old accounts that
worked with the info before?

I seriously doubt it's a hardware problem. Below are the basics. Testing in
a new User eliminated your keychain, but it does not eliminate user error
like adding a space or having the wrong info and/or selecting the wrong
choices.

I would also apply the Apple Leopard combo updater. Doing so overwrites
potentially problem-causing files. Several users have reported this fixed
some odd problems they were having with Entourage. Combo updaters will
install on the same version as theyıre applying‹no need to roll back or do a
clean install.

Leopard:

Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update (This update delivers several improvements for
both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )
<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1052comboupdate.html>

Tiger:

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC)

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)

Hi,

I recently purchased a new MacBook w/ 250GB of memory, 2.4GHz processor and 2GB of SDRAM. And I installed Office for MAC (student/teacher edition). I am noticing that my Office software is CRASHING frequently - my Office 2004 Software NEVER crashed on my older G4 Notebook.I have lost pertinent data and I have lost a lot of productive time due to my having to REDO work (note: I do have "auto-recovery" enabled in Word and Excel). Is anyone else having this issue?

Thanks (gracias),

Glenn

Yes, everyone is having these issues. There is a Service Release containing
multiple fixes in testing now. It will be released as soon as it passes.

The key problem is that Office 2008 was designed around OS X version 4. OS
10.5 "looks" like it is a minor change, but it wasn't, it is a somewhat
different operating system. Many applications have proved to require
extensive fixing to run with version 5!

Autorecovery doesn't do much. In the same preference pane, enable "Always
make backup", then save manually each time you pause to think. That way,
you have a much higher chance of finding something to recover.

Each time you save, Word will write the previous version as a new file in
the same folder as the document. If you lose the document, just
double-click the previous saved version and off you go again.

Hope this helps
