Suddenly my system & applications default font has become ..

OS 10.3.9 and all was well until something happened while I was using
Toast Titanium.

My desktop picture and all the screen images of open windows looked
'over-exposed'.

Any my system fonts became really small. I mean *reeeaaalllly* small.

I tried rebuilding the desktop from Classic.

I tried rebooting from the install disk to get to Disk Utility (but it
just wouldn't work).

I tried downloading TinkerTool and using that.

Nothing.

I then opened up Word and typed a couple of test lines in various font
sizes. When the test lines were in 16 pt font, my eye (and my handy
'font sizing' ruler) told me I was seeing something about 12 pts.

That's very strange... .

All my browsers also have much smaller fonts within the web pages and
for the application menus.

What I have managed to do is:

1 - readjust the font size of the folders (although I had to choose 16
pt when I know I'm not seeing it that large).

2 - by double-clicking on my various drives on my desktop, I've been
able to make the font size bigger for the folder names in each
partition... but, again, I know that the 16 pt I choose is not actually
what I'm seeing.

3 - my display is currently at 1280 x 1024 and the monitor is the
original to this B&W G3.

I *know* the Finder menu font size was bigger before something happened
with Toast.

Any suggestions?


I'm afraid I'll go blind looking at these small fonts (and if I'm going
to go blind doing anything, it sure ain't going to be because of this,
damned it!).

Tried it and nothing happened.

But here's the kicker (?)

I played around, again, for the umpteenth time, with the display
resolution in 'Preferences' and... *boom*. It worked.

Why it didn't earlier today, I know not.

But all was not lost (except, perhaps, for a bit of my sanity). I ended
up backing up everything so that's done :-)
