Ouch! Nothing like getting caught! :-(
What's even worse is that I went back to look at my original posting in the
thread and didn't catch the word "partition".
So now it is time for extreme humility.
Perhaps I was thinking that, outside of Time Machine, one can partition the
drive for differing uses.
