Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>comm (more info?)

At work I often have both my MT-NW and Mail windows on the screen at the
same time, and I'll be going back and forth between them (we use a
newsgroup internally for some monitoring functions). Occasionally I'll
lose track of which one is the current app, and I'll type Delete,
intending to delete the current mail message, but instead it deletes the
newsgroup from MT-NW's groups window. I have to go back to the full
group list and re-subscribe to the group.

Can anyone think of a way to get rid of this shortcut in MT-NW? Does
anyone think there should be a confirmation dialogue?

Try going to Preferences / Interface Options and turning off some or all
of the Keyboard shortcuts listed.

Alternatively you can close the window and not save it. You will of
course lose other changes such as messages marked read since the
previous save.

I wish there were. I'm constantly noticing missing newsgroups. I'm not
sure it's *just* the delete thing, as I never had a problem with this
until two or three upgrades of MT-NW ago.

I *definitely* agree that there should be a confirmation dialog here.

I've done the same thing so many times that as a work-around I finally
turned off automatic saving of the newsgroup file. So now when I quit
MT-NW it prompts me to save the file, and I can decline if I realize
that I've accidently deleted a newsgroup. It's far from ideal, but
better than nothing. :-(

Preferences/Saving Files:
User group lists - Auto save on quit
