Hello,

is it possible to install Windows Vista on Virtual PC for MAC?
I saw Windows XP as supported Guest but nothing about Vista.

Kind regards
Stefan

Please refer to the 786,000 other topics in this newsgroup where it is
stated quite emphatically that Vista is NOT supported and the cheaper
versions are NOT licensed for emulated environments.

I tried Vista Business under VPC 7 on my G5 and it loaded after messing with
the BIOS first. Only thing I do not have working is the network card. I
read online somewhere that the XP driver for the emulated NIC would work but
I could not get it to work. Once that is resolved then Vista is possible
under VPC 7. As far as speed goes it's OK testing apps out but not for
serious computing. I have XP Pro running from my VPC 6 package and that is
at least 2-3 times faster than Vista so far.

Hi,

Can you walk me through the BIOS you messed with? I've bought Vista Home Edition to install on VPC 7.0.3 and it just says the BIOS (firmware) is not ACPI compatible...I have not idea what that means!

Is it perhaps best if I just take the disc back to the shop and buy an older copy of XP?

Thanks
Brian

Hi Michael,

I got Vista to install after following some tips on another forum - macosxhints.com one. You have to switch a setting during the start up of the virtual PC...here's the link

Thanks for being so helpful dude ;-)

Yeah I had Vista running under VPC 7.03. I set it to Classic Mode and got
the Ethernet working. It was on the slow side but it did work.
