WallStreet 233/512 cache/192 Ram/12GB HD OS 9.2.1

So my son decided to password protect this laptop (I found out much later).
After working with it for several hours he shut it down.

When I tried to fire it up I got the dreaded flashing "?" I put an OS 9.2 disc
in the CD-Rom and it fired up. Went to the utilities to try disk aid and no
other volumes show up.

Tried Drive Set-up which showed the volume but said it was not mounted and it
would not mount.

He came home and informs me he'd Pass Protected the 'puter.

So when do you enter the password? Is that likely why the volume won't mount?

Doug

Hi Doug,

I would enter the password imediately after extracting it from your son,
preferably while he is still screaming.

It seems as though there is more than just a password issue. Try zapping
the PRAM (Press and hold these keys at start-up until you hear the tone
three times: command option P R)

You can also try resetting the reset button located somewhere on the
back of your Wallstreet. Check the user guide available on Apple's site:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.info.apple.com/support/manuals.html" target="_blank">http://www.info.apple.com/support/manuals.html</a>

Or:

"PowerBook Password Security
If you are using a PowerBook, you need to first disable the password
protection feature in the Password Security control panel. Password
security prevents Drive Setup from updating the driver."

But if that were the issue you wouldn't get the flashing "?"

Try booting from a utility like Diskwarrior, TechTool Pro or Norton.

He could have messed with the open firmware but then you wouldn't be
able to boot off the CD so that is not the issue:

If your still stuck try posting your problem here:

Regards,
Kim
