Anyone have info on what's up with Westlake Interactive?
The website hasn't been updated in four months. Is Aspyr
just going to swallow Westlake or is Westlake still actively
working on porting titles separately from Aspyr? No news
can't be good news.

I'm also very curious about the status of Westlake Interactive. It
seems like most of their heavy hitters (Brad Oliver, Glenda Adams, etc)
have moved from Westlake to Aspyr. From an outsider's perspective, it
seemed like the perfect symbiosis to have Westlake do the coding and
Aspyr do the publishing. Now it seems like Aspyr will do both, using
the very same people it used before.
There is only one clue I have for why they split up:
"Having this in-house development allows for greater control and
flexibility over the porting process and allows Aspyr to sidestep legal
issues that inevitably come up with dealing with a contracted porting
house. "
I'm very curious about the "legal issues" involved and whether or not
they influenced Aspyr's actions.

Some PC developers would not let Aspyr hand code out to contracted Mac
developers, instead preferring that the code stay in-house at Aspyr.

I would expect the opposite to be true as well... :)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Westlake Interactive, where are you? |

Maybe it's this cold I have, but I don't quite follow. What would the
opposite be?

That some PC developers would probably rather have the code go out to a
contractor than stay at Aspyr. In theory, Aspyr would touch more games than
any particular contractor.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Westlake Interactive, where are you? |
