Works for MacIntosh

I didn't use my Power Macintosh for 4 years. I created
numerous documents using Microsoft Works 4.0.
Now when I try to open these documents I get a message
that reads these documents were created with a newer
version of Microsoft Works. Use the newer version to open
them. I never had a newer version of Microsoft Works. I
was using Microsoft Works Version 4.0 for years. I need
to access some of the information in those documents.
Please help me access this important information. Thank
you.
