The seller of the CD-ROM drive that I claimed was broken, because it did
not work, although the drive sled was good, has claimed that the CD-ROM
drive works. He did not have a 6360 to test.

I have a Performa 6360 and the Apple 24X drive slid right into my Mac,
the drive sled was good. I did not touch any of the jumpers or anything.

I am wondering if any of you think its at all possible that something
inside my Macintosh may be broken and the reason why I could not get the
internal CD-ROM drive to work on my Mac? Or maybe perhaps the jumpers
on the back of the drive were set for his Mac, but not mine?

Oh boy...

I've never really used the Internal CD-ROM bay since I bought this Mac.
I've always used an external SCSI drive. Maybe when I bought it the
internal bay was damaged. The drive that shipped with this Mac was
broken, however the drive was detectable in the SCSI chain, and it did
power on.

I thought you said you tried it in the external case and it wouldn't
even power up. Do I remember that correctly?

Of course it's possible.

No, for any Mac with an internal SCSI bus, the drive would be set with
termination off and an ID of 3.

Don't tell me they're having ANOTHER gubernatorial election there this
year!

I did remove all the jumper switches, but someone else claims the drive
would not even powered on if the switches were left at ID 3 when
attached to the external case.

If it's working, it would power up regardless of the jumpers.

Okay then. The seller claims that the drive works on his Mac. He got
su fusterated, he refused to refund me the entire amount.

The drive I purchased from We Love macs is a 24X internal and I was sold
the wrong sled. The sled I was sold was for the 6400. I will get the
right sled, and if this drive does not work, then I can only assume that
my internal bay is busted.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I posted this in your other thread, but in case you don't see it:

I had the chance to pull a CD-ROM drive from a 6400, and I confirmed
something I suspected all along - the sled is the same one that's used
in the 6360. I had them both side by side, and they're identical.

I hope you used PayPal - you should be able to get a complete refund
if the product you're sold doesn't work.

It might be simpler to buy Mike's old 6360, and move the rest of your
peripherals (fast G3 card, large HD etc.) into it. I think he said he
only wanted $30 for it (plus shipping). And knowing Mike, if it doesn't
work, I'm sure he'll refund you the $30.
