The only official Mac compatible ATI cards are those manufactured by ATI
for Macs, whether they're OEM or Retail models. Some people have
purchased specific model PC Radeon 8500s and flashed them for Mac use.
However, ATI views this as software piracy and will not support users
who flash PC cards for use in Macs. If you want full support from ATI
you'll have to get one of the official Mac Radeon cards, whether it's a
Radeon 8500 or Radeon 9000.
Since your system was originally a G4 400 it most likely doesn't have
support for the ADC port on a Radeon 9000 so the 8500 is a better buy as
you'll get DVI, VGA, and SVideo out (only upt to two outputs can be used
at any time).
Oh, the first AGP ports in Macs were 2xAGP. The difference between
2xAGP and 4xAGP isn't that big in real world use.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
