cheats for SOFII

So, I've been playing SOF II for a while now, and have been having a
hoot. However, I sometimes have the irresistible urge to just blast away
with any weapon I choose in an effort at late night de-stressing :)

Unfortunately, the cheats I've found on the Internet don't seem to work
- I've put:

seta sv_cheats "1"

in the cfg file, and entered 'set random sv_cheats 1' in the console,
but when I enter any of the codes (such as GOD, PINKSPIDER etc) I just
get back a message to teh effect of 'cheats not enabled on this server'.

Is there a way around this? I'm just using the stock version of SOF -
the update is going to have to wait until I get my broadband connection
back.

I've not played SoFII on my Mac, but I know on the PC I had to not use ""
around the 1 in seta sv_cheats 1. I also think I had to use "hash sv_cheats
1" to get it to work on the 'Gold' patch.
