I use MS Office 2004 in my Macbook to create newsletters and PP
presentations. The clipart is not as plentiful as the prior version of
Office, but I've been able to go to the online link to browse and
download clips, until recently. Now the downloads won't load into the
clipart. And when I drag and drop they don't look right. What
happened? and how do I fix it. I run OS 10.4.8 and keep it up to date
with software update. I've tried running disk warrior to see if
something's wrong , but no change.
thanks

The clips are downloaded as .cil (MS Clip Gallery Live) files. You should be
able to simply double-click the file to have the images added to the
Gallery. The .cil can then be deleted.

It used to work just that way, but no longer does. What should I try
to restore it? Should I uninstall Office and re-install? I'm not too
sure I should try that as I'm not too good at knowing all the steps.
thanks for the reply

Absolutely Not!:-) Reinstalling Office is *rarely* the cure for anything &
can cause even more problems if it isn't done properly - so it's a major
waste of time & effort. There's usually a far more appropriate solution.

First make sure that Office is fully updated - current build is 11.3.8 - and
you're a little behind on your OS X updates - 10.4.10 is the current
build:-)

Do the OS X updates first (using the Combo Updaters from the Apple site
rather than Software Update). You may also need the QuickTime 7.2 update.
Then run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions. That may be all that's
necessary. Post back with your results either way.

Thank you, I will try these things on Mon when I get back to the work
macbook. I thought my mac update program would keep things current,
but I'll check that first. Not sure if it matters, but when I (thru
work) got the new macbook the Apple Store transfered all the info from
the Mac G4 that was dying including the prior version of office (2000
I think) and then added the new version of 2004, but there have been
'glitches' that I don't understand, there is always an 'unexpected
error' with the library, but I just click OK and continue on. that's
what they said at the mac store that I shouldn't worry about it. Also
one of the programs doesn't work at all, entourage, but I never use
it, just the work and PP. Should I be concerned about this?
I'll try your suggestions and post the results, hopefully sometime
Mon. thanks for your help.

So it's Mon and I checked and all the updates are current, OS 10.4.10
and Quicktime 7.2.0
I did the disk utility and repaired the disk permissions. And no
change. Should I have done it from the CD? as outlined in the
utility? the dialog box I get is 'attempt to open database file
clipart failed'
any other ideas?
thanks
