How to get console in MAX PAYNE?

I'm an older gamer having a great time with Max Payne. However, I've
gotten to a situation where I just can't seem to kill all the baddies in
a hotel room before they get me. I'd like to utilize a cheat code to
get past this room, but there does not seem to be a way in the Mac
version to bring down the console. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

I saw a previous message on this group about developer mode as mentioned
on the Apple site, but not only could I not find any reference to Max
Payne on Apple's site, I also don't know if developer mode accesses the
console.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated!
