Steve-
That's news to me!
I tried an experiment, and verified that you can print to such a
printer, which appears under "Bonjour Printers" in the Print menu's list
of printers. In addition, it added it to the list of installed
printers. I then was able to use the Printer Setup Utility to "Show
Info", and change the HP 2605 configuration to enable duplex printing.
This was not intuitive! There is still the mystery of why the Add
function could see both printers before the 10.4.10 upgrade, and why it
only sees the HP 4600 afterwards.
I see that once installed, the Bonjour printer no longer shows up under
"Bonjour Printers" in Print menu's list of printers, which is why I
didn't notice the option before. I was trying to use the Add Printer
function of Printer Setup Utility as a troubleshooting aid to determine
when the printer's network connection problem had been solved.
Thanks for the tip.
