freezes when checking mail

I have Entourage 10.1.4 and it was working fine until today when I rebooted
my PowerBook G4. It seems like some basic system preferences might have
gotten scrambled because my dock was in the wrong place, and when I started
Entourage it asked me for passwords for my accounts.

When I inputted the first password, it started checking for mail and then
froze. So I forced quit and started it again, this time I cancelled out
instead of putting in the passwords, and went into accounts. The passwords
were not there, so I put them in, but it won't save the passwords -- it
keeps "forgetting" them.

Any ideas? Is there a way to "reboot" entourage?
