Hello,
Anybody care to share some favored places for finding reviews and/or
purchasing of Mac compatible games? All I've got w/i a 3 hr drive is
Stapls, Office Depot, and Hastings (local knockoff of Barnes-n-Noble)
here in town, none of which stocks anything Mac (other than Quicken).
Pretty much looking at having to order sight-unseen over the 'Net or via
phone/catalog. I'm pretty much mainly interested in real-time strategy
games, such as Age of Empires (got it) Warcraft III (got it), etc.
Heard about TA being playable in Classic, I'll have to hunt down a copy
of that for sure! CC Generals sounds pretty neat as well.
TIA,
Monte >> Stay informed about: good sources for Mac games |

Well, if you're running OS X, the second command under the apple menu
takes you to the apple download site, where most of the games out there
have demo/shareware versions posted.
If don't have OS X, you're likely to run into hardware requirements with
almost all of the new games out there.
Any particular type of game you like? We may be able to point you to
specific games.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: good sources for Mac games |

He did mention RTS in his post. "...Age of Empires (got it) Warcraft III
(got it), etc."
;-)

I do run OS X, Panther 10.3.<whatever the heck the latest update was>,
on a 700MHz G4 eMac w/ a 40GB HD, 1GB RAM, yada yada.
Guess I tend to over look the apple.com page, as I have a fairly slow
56k dial-up, so d/l'ing demo's never sounded like much fun ;) I'll give
it a look-see, though.
Thanks,

I know all about that! When I was limited to a 56k connection, I'd set
everything up and get it going, then go to bed. In the morning, it would all
be done.

Guess I could feed the URL into iGetter and let it do its thing...
Any other places besides the Apple site? It's all pretty much fluff and
feel-good reviews of everything i.e. *all* the games are great, nothing
sucks or has any bad parts... somehow I'm not buying that idea. Any
review sites (not necessarily Apple specific, though sometimes it gets
depressing when games come out and don't get ported to Mac...) that are
*relatively* unbiase and cover RTS games pretty well?
Thanks,

Oh. Yeah. That's what happens when you post when you're tired.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: good sources for Mac games |

One of my favorite Mac gaming sites is InsideMacGames.com
<http://www.insidemacgames.com/>, and they also have a store where they
sell Mac games. Their prices aren't great, but they're not too bad, and
they usually have a good selection of games.
I also like MacGamer.com <http://www.macgamer.com/> for reviews and game
info, but they don't have a store.
For great prices on games, try GoGamer.com <http://www.gogamer.com/>.
They have a fairly decent (though not huge) Mac games selection with
great prices.
Amazon.com <http://www.amazon.com/> also has an Apple area with a good
selection of Mac software at good prices.

You might also take a look at Chips & Bits
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.chipsbits.com/cgi-bin/order.cbi_home?client=78256&source=10678&pa" target="_blank">http://www.chipsbits.com/cgi-bin/order.cbi_home?client=78256&source=10678&pa</a>
ge=chips_main.html&newpage=catalogs/mac_games.html
They have a decent selection, I've found their service to be good, and their
prices are average.

Try:
versiontracker.com
tucows.com
download.com
If I'm looking to download, these are the places I go first.
See if MicroCenter has an online store (they are the best retail store
for Mac stuff where I live, perhaps they are also online?)
Any retailer may also have an online store that carries a wider variety
of Mac games than the physical store.
Good luck!
