I've been using VPC7 on my Mac G5 dual 2.0 for about two years with no
problems. Windows even installs updates on its own. This morning, I
was shutting down Windows and an update started to install. It said
"installing update 1 of 7," which I didn't think was a big deal
because it always does this, but there were a few dialog boxes that
said "couldn't save [a certain file] because the drive was full" but
it's not. I clicked them away. But after about 3 hours, it still said
the same thing, so I quit VPC. Now, every time I've tried to start it
up, the same screen appears and it just hangs. There's a little yellow
light in the lower left corner of the screen that blinks over the hard
drive icon when the Finder is selected but VPC is starting up in
normal use. That light is still blinking, so I thought everything was
working the way it should except that it was taking longer than usual.
Obviously I'm wrong.
Does anyone know what's happening and how I can skip the update
installer?
Thanks,

Sounds like you need to manually restart Windows. Go to PC in the Menu
bar and select Reset >> Stay informed about: VPC 7.0.2 hanging on start-up...says "installing update 1 .. |

I discovered that handy little menu item shortly after I posted my
question. Thanks anyway!

What it sounds like is that when you thought you exited VPC was saved the
snap shot and then exited. So the next time you start VPC it goes right
back to where you left off.
Next time in VPC click on the "PC" menu button and select "Shut Down" It
will offer a couple of options select "Turn off PC" Then next time you
start VPC it will do a full boot. Hopefully this helps.
