Need help! - Can't get printing to remote windows photosma..

Brand new Mac convert is trying to set up printing at home. OSX 10.3.5
on a home network shared with multiple Windows PC's and Linux PC. I'm
able to browse the network and select the shared printer which is on a
Windows 2000 PC. When I attempt to print text to the shared printer
from my Mac, all the printing occurs on the top 1 inch of the page.
Attempts to print from iPhoto results in strange behavior as well.
I've been to the gimp website and have gotten a CUPS ppd(?)
configuration file for the HP 7150 Photosmart printer but have been
unable to correct the printing problems...

Have I got it all wrong?

I had to install gimp-print, eps ghostscript, and download the HP driver
package that included my printer. It has worked well. Everything you need
