Hi,

i am using an G4-800-12"iBook and i am searching a way to delete/reset
the NVRAM to the original settings because the ibook refuses to go to
sleep mode by itself.

When i close the lid it does but the sleep-timer-function won't work. I
found a hint in a forum for the old ibook which has a real "reset-
button".

maybe there is a software clearing the NVRAM or a hotkey i have to press
during boot?

best regards,
Christian

Here's the procedure for invoking a power manager reset:

1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Simultaneously press and then release Shift-Control-Option-Power.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.

To completely wipe the PRAM:

1. Start or restart the machine and immediately hold down Cmd-Opt-O-F.
2. Eventually you should see a plain text console mode. Type:
a. reset-NVRAM
b. set-defaults
b. reset-all
3. Type 'boot' or 'mac-boot' to exit OpenFirmware.
