When I attempted to install Apple's Security Software Update the other
day, my G5 iMac running OS 10.4.11 Tiger wouldn't accept my
administrator's password. Attempting to switch to any of my other
accounts resulted in Login Password "Shake." "Caps Lock" key is not
engaged. Rebooting the computer fixes the problem for half-a-day or
so, but then the problem returns. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Mike

Very odd. Noticed any keyboard anomalies? Just thinking that maybe
your keyboard is sending the wrong key codes or something.

I'd be inclined to check the disk, as it sounds like it could be
failing. Also make sure that /tmp exists (as a symlink to /private/tmp)
and you can create files in it. Rebooting explicitly fixes /tmp, so
maybe something is damaging it later?

Cheers,

Chris
