OK this could be a stretch, but...

Apple just dropped their refurb iMac prices further and moved iMacs to
the top of the page. So they have a lot of excess inventory they want
to get rid of.

Could this mean that they are about to release new iMac models?

Perhaps. It might be the only way to overcome the short comings of
Leopard.

Yes, it could mean that.

Sounds like trolling to me. Regardless of what one might or might not
feel about Leopard, and whatever the unspecified percieved shortcomings
might be, it is hard to imagine how releasing a new iMac model would be
a solution. (Particularly a new iMac likely to be a pretty minor bump).
In fact it is hard to see any relationship.

This looks an awful lot like "let's just drop a random vague potshot in
an unrelated thread".

Macfixit is a recurring litany of people having problems with Leopard.
Perhaps it just doesn't "click" with existing Apple computer
architecture and that hardware needs some modification.

Hell, I don't know, it was just a thought. But, 10.5 seems to have
caused more than the usual share of problems not only with other apple
programs but many 3rd party applications that people seem to want and
need.

There have also been complaints that Apple is not being as responsive as
usual to complaints.

Following apparent problems with a new operating system is a habit of
mine. Don't upgrade until the problems are being solved by newer
versions. Don't be a beta tester.

What's the likelihood of a quad core iMac?

But Tiger is just fine.

When Tiger was released, MacFixit was a recurring litany of people
having problems with Tiger. But Jaguar was just fine.

Etc etc etc.

That much is obvious.

I do have a related question though. Apple's update server
collects all necessary data to determine the hardware and
OS version of all systems using it. Statistics about the
number of machines running Tiger, Leopard etc could clearly
be auto generated. I realise that Apple is under no obligation
to make any such statistics public, and there are probably a
number of reasons not to, but does any one know if they do?
