Well, I _did_ say "all the checkboxes", not "all the ones you have
selected".
You can control which songs you're checking/unchecking by limiting which
ones are displayed, using one of the following methods:
A) Create a temporary playlist, drag the songs into it, then display that
playlist. When you check/uncheck a song in a playlist, it'll also be
checked/unchecked in the Library and all other playlists.
B) Type something into the Search box at the top of the window. The
Library or Playlist you're in will show only the songs that match that
text. (It looks for matches in Artist, Album, and Song Name.) When you're
done, clear the Search box by clicking on the "X".
C) In the Library, click on the "Browse" button in the top right corner.
Select artists, genres, and/or albums in the Browse pane, and the library
will display only the songs for those artists/genres/albums. Shift-click
and command-click will work here. Exit browse mode by clicking on the
Browse button again.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
