OK, I think I got it.
That index.html among the list of websites and pages is supposed to
contain links to all your iwebsites and pages. You keep it on top of
the others in your iWeb window and then when having a look after
publishing it opens this index and wham there you can choose the site
you want to have a look at.
So you need that index in iWeb as it is conceived. This isn't mentioned
anywhere, not in the iLife manual either.

I've been using iWeb for over two years and I have never had an
index.html "on top of the other in iWeb".

I'm still not sure what you're talking about since almost nothing is
the same as mine, the Domain.sites2, the index. I hope you have it
sorted out.

Possibly of some utility as well. It purportedly allows for convenient
construction of multiple sites in iWeb. I assume, as do some of the
utilities that juggle iPhoto and iTunes, that it allows for convenient
shuffling and renaiming of your Domain file.

Multisite:

Thanks for the link. It seems older users are having a slightly
different iWeb configuration than new users like me.
However, I am learning quick.
I'll check out the above link.
But all in all iWeb is a pretty mighty tool, it can justify, left ajust
or right ajust your text like the best publication app.
I am also going to look for a comprehensive book about iWeb.
Thanks for your help.
