Post subject: importing video into imovie with a dvd cam
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>hardware>video (more info?)

hi,

i've a pb g4 that i'm trying to get video into

from a sony dvd video cam, without a firewire port, it's got a usb
port, but when connected throws the cam into "usb mode", and disables
playback from the cam

at this point i can see the dvd on the desktop and play it on the
(software) dvd player, but i can't get the dvd player seen in imovie

there's also an A/V out port on the cam, that came with a single
interface A/V connecting cable for the cam end, and another tri-prong
on the other, if i could get this or a new cable to end in firewire or
usb, i could probably import playback into imovie

i'm trying to import from cam becuase a few bad discs won't import
through toast, but will playback on the cam just fine

any ideas?
