I installed photo buddy, started up iphoto and no thumbnails or
photos. Did a rebuild and moved and rebuilt the libary. Now when I
clik to open a photo I get a BLACK CIRCLE WITH AN EXPLANITION POINT
INSIDE for all photos. This must be a virus or some such thing.

Can anybody help me out on this.

Tom

One hopes that the OP is, as is suggested by his post, too inept to breed.

I don't think that the OP can comprehend what he reads, so this may not work.
It would, of course, keep him busy for a prolonged period, which is good.

This is not an virus! believe it!

iPhoto cannot find your originals - perhaps you have deleted. i had it
a few times when i worked on an original with an other program.
Post it in a iphoto forum at apple and please report here or dirct to
me. I am also interested in knowing, what has happened!

Yes I know also....

But: Is the original deleted and not recoverable? Or is any link to
the original destroyed? I had it sometimes; i had alsways a copy so
that i did you look for the reason that the "pic" is not
available...the thumb was always on, but the original was short
visible and then replaced by the "!"...
What happens?...Please experts, explain this here!

I ran the disk utility to check and see if permissions were corrupt
and after that the problem has gotten worse. This black circle has
gone away replaced by a blank screen. When I look at my Data file all
the folders are intact, however every folder is empty. Now I don't
know how I could have deleted all the photos and left all the folders,
or events as iphoto calls them by mistake.

I also copied my library and that wound up empty also.

Some of you think this is funny but I have 30 years of photos at risk.
So if you have a positive comment please help.

If it's not a virus then iphoto buddy did this to my photos and thats
a problem with anyone using the freeware. I am on iphoto 08 if thats
relevent.

Perhaps it's a virus that's infected _him_.

Have y'all ever noticed that newbies always blame any weird behavior on
viruses, while are completely willing to write off actual virus-like
behavior (not on the Mac, but on other platforms) as just normal?

We had an application once in the MSDOS where the copyright info would
be replaced with a quote of the day if you waited long enough. And
people actually panicked and claimed that their system was infected.
