I just found this in;

4.11  Using the AltGr Key
If you connect to a Windows-based computer that is configured to use a
keyboard layout that includes the AltGr key, such as French or German, you
will not find a key that works as the AltGr key because Macintosh computers
do not support it. Because some Windows keyboards require the AltGr key to
type common characters, such as \ @ { } [ ], you can enter these characters
in one of two alternate ways: Either switch the keyboard setting to US in
the Windows Control Panel (Regional Settings), or use the Character Map
program included with Windows to enter characters by using the mouse.

So I guess we all have to become americans now....
