Hi all,
I was able to get the Macs to play the asx (asf) files inside our network,
but not outside the network. The PC plays it fine both inside and outside
the network. It's being run off Windows Media Server 2003.
Any ideas? After a long pause after the Player opens, the error on the Mac
says something like file not found... I used the SAME Mac computer and went
over to our lab to connect to our network from the outside (so we know it's
not the computer).
And yes, it is a v8 codec, not v9 codec. Is it a Windows-related security
issue under IIS or what? Is it cuz it's slow? Just need ideas on where to
troubleshoot...
Many thanks!

It sounds like a proxy issue if it works on one side of a firewall and not
the other. Are you using OSX or a classic OS? With Mac OS 9 and earlier,
the Media Player had to have it's proxy set manually. With OSX, it should
read the information automatically from the system Network Settings. Can
you access web sites both inside and outside your network with a browser on
the Mac? If that won't work either, then it may be in the system settings.
Most PC's applications like IE and the Media Player are set to auto detect
the proxy when necessary.

hmm...
Using OSX. Yes, I can access all the websites with the Mac but only the
Windows Media Player is giving me fits. Again, we know it's not the install
of Windows Media Player because it worked inside of the network.
I'll check the proxy settings and report back...
Thanks,

Proxy settings are pretty much non-existent. Everything's unchecked
there... any ideas? IIS issue? Windows 2K3 issue?
Thanks.
