What does everyone think of the new mini ipod?
I was hoping for a lower priced model than the new competition such as the
new Dell and Napster players. I can't believe that they are offering a 4GB
model for $50 less than a 15GB. I would have definitely picked up this Ipod
if it were closer to (or a little under) $200....But, that's just my
opinion. What's yours?

Not only is the price point too high, two capabilities of the larger iPods
are missing: you can't voice record and you can't input from a flash memory
card (photos). So the primary selling point, other than the color choices,
would be the smaller size of the iPod mini. IMHO, that is insufficient
justification for the product since it is not THAT much smaller!

If you know someone with an ADC (Apple Developer Connection) account then
you can get it through their hardware discount for $199. If your company has
Macs then chances are someone on the tech staff is an ADC member and has 10
hardware discounts they probably will never use.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: mini Ipod |

Today Dell dropped their price on their 15GB jukebox making it only 225. If
only it was iTunes compatible....sigh

The best comment I've heard about this is that Apple can't raise the price
of a product once they've announced it. They can only lower it.
Apple may get a few early adopters, but I would guess it won't be long
before the price goes down.

That is very possible. On a powerbook you can get a good deal off with ADC
hardware discount.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: mini Ipod |

yes but the size is soooo much smaller. Its a lot more portable for
excirsise - i mean you can wear it on your arm! If you have less than 1000
songs and don't need it as an external storage drive then its perfect. If
you need a bit more storage then go for the 15GB or bigger.
