I'm using an iMac, 10.4.11, verizon dsl, teranews and newswatcher. I
have problems with nearly every movie format. Mpgs usually just don't
play at all. Avi's oftern will play the first file, but not the rest of
them, and sometimes only play the sound but not the video. Wmv's are
also usually not playable. I've tried quicktime, wmp, vlc, realplayer
and mplayer. Can someone point me to a "movies for dummies" site so I
can figure this out?

Try www.flip4mac.com

It puts the codecs into QuickTime for Windows-format video files, including
AVI, WMV, ASF, and more.
